62nd Pula Film Festival is again this year a unique meeting opportunity for professionals who are key figures in creating film support and professional programmes. PULA PROfessional is aimed at film professionals and students of audiovisual activities. In addition to the already established components of the programme such as Young Cinephiles Critics, themed lectures and round tables, this year it is enriched with a new Student Programme dedicated to the students and the screening of their authored works.
Theme driven, the focus of this year's PULA PROfessional programme is scenography, the concept of which is signed by the winner of the Golden Arena for Best Scenography, Tanja Lacko. The Programme participants will have the opportunity to actively participate and expand their knowledge through lectures by renowned European and Croatian set designers and film professionals: David Munns, Heizo Schulze, Uli Hanish, Damir Gabelica Tomica Vujnović, Tanja Lacko, the topic will be presented in a broader film context by Charles McDonald (PR expert), Nik Powell (Director of the National Film School) and Marko Rojnić (consultant at ADU).
The themes of this year’s programme will be: scenography and creation of worlds, anthropology of the imaginary space, space direction, Croatia as a "fantastic" destination, the secrets of visual perception, the production side of set design, visual effects and virtual reality.
Pula Professional is also the opportunity to connect students of a wider region and to exchange knowledge and experience. In cooperation with the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, the Student Programme offers national and international students a venue to screen their films and view those of their colleagues, thereby creating a starting point for future film professionals.
The programme Young Cinephiles Critics, mentored by the prominent Croatian film critic Nenad Polimac, is an additional professional platform which involves film analysis, interpretation and evaluation of domestic and foreign films and the acquisition of knowledge necessary to research the seventh art. The eight member Critics body will engage in surveys and discussions with film authors and blog and review writing of national and international feature and short films.
