For the first time in Croatia, 2 films will have their world premiere at the 62nd Pula Film Festival as part of the International Programme: Next to Me (Serbia), directed by Stevan Filipović and Streetkids United II: The Girls from Rio (United Kingdom, Netherlands, Brazil) directed by Maria Clara. These are films that decided to begin their film journey around the world's screens right here in Pula, and both films will be introduced by their film crew and film director before the premiere screening.
The rich International Programme of this year's Pula Film Festival consists of competitive and non-competitive categories, the programme of short films in cooperation with the European Film Academy, the youth programme Dizalica and the children’s’ programme Pulica.
Among the films selected for the International Programme you will find the winner of Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, the French Film Dheepan by Jacques Audiard; the winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival, The Lobster directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, awarded at other renowned Festivals and the winner of the directing award at the Sundance Festival, director Alante Kavaite with the film The Summer of Sangaile.
Within the above mentioned programme, the devoted 62nd Pula audience will be able to see over 40 titles from more than 20 countries around the world and meet some of the film crews who, together with their films, are distinguished guests of the 62nd Pula Film Festival.
Among the many film guests, during the Festival days, Pula will welcome the famous film director and screenwriter Stephen Daldry, whose movie Trash is in the International competition and also George Ovashvili, director of the Corn Island, a multiple award-winning film at international film festivals in Karlovy Varyima and Palm Springs.
Other guests include Maurizio Braucci, screenwriter and director of Gomorrah and Pasolini; Srđan Dragojević director of The Parade, Uli Hanisch set designer for Cloud Atlas and Perfume- The Story of a Murderer; Rebecca Lenkiewicz screenwriter for Ida; Thomas Logoreci director of Bota and many other important names of the film industry.
Another interesting feature of this year's 62nd Pula International Programme is the screening of the series Utopia by Dennis Kelly. Projecting a television series on the big screen has become a popular trend at world film festivals and is now included at the Pula Film Festival.
